Duncan Rowles specializes in “the human side of the Total Quality equation”. Among the first in the Nation to receive recognition as an ASQC Certified Quality Manager, Duncan brings to the Total Quality arena a unique understanding of the human and mechanical and implementation of a Total Quality philosophy and process.
Duncan’s background includes 18 years of managerial experience with ABB/Combustion Engineering in a variety of administrative roles, including 5 years as Director of Total Quality and 8 years as an in-house consultant for Traveler’s Insurance Company specializing in process analysis and the development of work standards. He hold a retired commission in the US Naval Reserve, having retired in 1990 following 28 years of service.
During his tenure as a Quality Officer at ABB C-E Services, Duncan held several positions on the Customer Satisfaction Council, an ABB-wide organization of Quality Officers and Supply Managers. He was Chairman of the Training Committee, Secretary and Chairman of the Council. He also was responsible for the Human Resource Development/Training function for the company.
Duncan’s involvement in training and facilitation resulted in the promulgation of a formal company program and philosophy on training, major training initiatives and the use of trained facilitators to improve meeting and task team effectiveness. He is a co-developer of a highly effective program on facilitation training which is unique for its integration of the use of total quality tools and methodologies and its “just-in-time” training philosophy.
Mr. Rowles received his BA in Speech from Know College in Galesburg, Illinois in 1963 and his MBA from the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut in 1973.
